Basics of Gourding

Class description

Overwhelmed with all the new vocabulary and materials you are going to need when working with gourds? Spend some time with me, and I will answer questions and give you tips and advise on what to buy and when. Learn how to get the most out of the “gourd art” journey.

I will go over picking out gourds, the right wood burner for you, saws, sanders and other tools that will make the process easier. Do you buy dyes, powders, paints or ink? Do you buy them individually or in sets? Are their differences in brands? After 10 years of working with gourds, I have spent time and money on things I didn’t need. Consider me as your personal shopper during this class. Allow me to clear up your confusion and help you feel more confident in your product choices.

This class with provide you with of a "picture-list" of products and tools that will assist you when you walk through the vendor’s area. It will also guide you to online vendors to explore. Keep it handy when you get home and forget terms and special needs for the product you just bought or ordered.

When all your questions are answered, I will show you how to successfully decorate a gourd with markers! You will create a name tag necklace to wear to your next “gourd patch” meeting!

This class is must for all beginners.

What you are required to bring

All you need to bring is pencil and paper, if you want to take notes.

Class Cancellation Policy

If this class does not meet the minimum number of students by September 1st, the class will be cancelled, you will be contacted, and your full registration fee will be refunded.
