Metallic Patchwork Gourd

Class description

A new finish for gourds or boxes. The project comes out looking like it is covered with antiqued metal enhanced with shaped, charms and found objects. The 3 D effect is very wonderful to see & feel.

This class is for all levels.

I will provide a clean gourd or wooden box (the student can choose). All other materials including shapes, charms, found objects ect. are provided.

If this class does not meet the minimum number of students by September 1st, the class will be cancelled, you will be contacted, and your full registration fee will be refunded.

About the instructor

Charlene (Cookie) Hanson has been creating in the fiber arts media since the mid 1970's. Currently her art is produced in her studio in Seal Beach California. Cookie teaches & shows in several mixed media galleries, guilds and conferences. She belongs and is active in the 3 Basket Guilds California & the California Gourd Society active in 3 patches.

Her appreciation for beauty and the shapes and forms of natural materials motivated her to experiment with the shapes of her basketry. Each piece develops it own sculpted form from the materials used. Materials as sea grass, dracena draco, splitleaf philodren, king palm seed stalks, sea weed (kelp), grasses and vines form her creative forms.
