Class description
Students will coil pine needles on a gourd manipulating them to create an opening with floating coils helping to illustrate movement. This class is great for all student levels. Pine needles, thread, and a prepared gourd will all be provided by the instructor.
What you are required to bring
Each student is required to bring the following items to class:
- Sharp scissors
- Apron
About the instructor
Toni Best has been a creator and advocate of basketry for over fifty years. Specializing in pine needle and pine needles coiled on gourds, Toni has been creating pieces which stretch her imagination and are "outside the box". She was juried into the NBO "All Things Considered VI", invited to teach at Arrowmont's School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN, and Pocosin's School of Fine Arts in Columbia, NC. She was accepted into the Handweavers Guild of America juried show at Convergence in Reno in July 2018 and the HGA 2018 Basketry Exhibit. She also teaches at her home studio as well as at different states.
