Class description
The objective of the class is for you to make your very own and very unique Wooden Bottle Stopper. Learn some essential wood turning skills, first by demonstration, then by hands on. After the class, you will have your very own hand crafted wooden bottle stopper.
The demo portion will show how to prepare your turning blanks, turning terminology and cover lathe safety. Then I will demonstrate turning a stopper, and the steps to finish it and assemble it. Because of the limited number of Lathes that I have at my disposal, we will then have a sign-up and time slot system where you will work 1 on 1 with me to turn and assemble your own stopper. Please note that the turning Blanks will already have a certain amount of preparation done to them before you start - again this is due to the limited number of lathes available.
I will provide your bottle stopper kit which includes a stainless steel bottle stopper, and a wooden blank. Lathes and tools. All sandpaper, and finishes to make your project pop.
What you are required to bring
Each student is asked to bring the following items to class:
Safety glasses and a dust mask are required.
If you have a smock or apron that will protect your clothes from dust, you should bring that also.

About the instructor
Andrew has been woodturning for several years. After encouraging his wife to take a basic pen turning class, she now enjoys woodturning as well. He mostly creates bowls and other larger work, but he still enjoys going back to his roots to custom pen orders and bottle stoppers.
